STRATEGIC NARRATIVE INSIGHTS
How To Get In The Right Headspace
In 2001, I had to work with a difficult person high up in a large company's hierarchy. This person would stress me out a ton. I was intimidated by his age, his rank and his ways of working. Yet, I was committed to making this relationship work.
To better prepare for my meetings with him, a friend of mine recommended that I look into an unorthodox leadership method at the time: mindfulness.
This was probably one of the best pieces of advice I have ever received. As a result, I was able to achieve my goal.
Since then, mindfulness has gained a lot in popularity and is now a mainstream practice.
I see a relationship between the quality of the decisions we make and the mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment.
Calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations is a prerequisite to listening to your organization's purpose and turning it into a narrative that resonates with everyone.
Today, BestSelf launched a mindfulness challenge, a free one-month series of exercises designed to unlock more clarity, concentration and calm. Click here to access it. I have no affiliation with this company except that I have been using their journal for a while, with much satisfaction.
I will be doing this challenge. If mindfulness is not part of your daily routine yet, I encourage you to do the same.
Have a great Monday!
